PUDDLESTOMPERS™ Plan for Reducing the Spread of COVID-19
PUDDLESTOMPERS™ Summer Camp will be following mandated Massachusetts state guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Below is all of the information pertaining to what will be done by our staff and what will be expected of families participating in summer camp.
Wearing masks is optional but encouraged if you or your child are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. As a certified camp, our masking policy is subject to change based on MA state guidelines. If your child/children test(s) positive for COVID19, do not bring them to camp.
Updating Guidelines
The camp director will continuously monitor all health and safety guidelines given by local and state health departments, to ensure PUDDLESTOMPERS™ is up to date regarding COVID-19 guidelines. If major changes in guidelines occur, the camp director will write up addendum to policy, and website.Will hold meetings with all lead teachers and camp staff to ensure the guidelines are followed, and update parent via email if necessary.
Policy pertaining to program closures, staff absences and gaps in children attendance
All teachers will be encouraged to stay home if not feeling well.
Plan for Staff Returning to Work
If a teacher has tested positive for COVID-19 or has had symptoms of COVID-19 they will self isolate. If symptomatic of COVID-19, isolation will end when at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery, defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath); and at least 5 day have passed since symptoms first appeared, or negative results of two consecutive respiratory specimens collected ≥ 24 hours apart. If asymptomatic, isolation will end at least 5 days passed since the date of their first positive COVID-19 diagnostic test assuming they have not subsequently developed symptoms since their positive test or negative results of two consecutive respiratory specimens collected ≥ 24 hours apart.
Procedure for Food Handling
All campers and staff will bring nut-free food from home. If a camper needs help opening pre packaged food the teacher will don disposable gloves for each camper that needs help.
Procedure for Reapplying Sunscreen and Bug Spray
In the event of a camper needing more sunscreen applied a teacher will assist in applying sunscreen. The teacher will first check the attendance sheet to confirm there has been consent to reapply sunscreen.
Information on COVID-19
COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by a new coronavirus not previously seen in humans. Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe symptoms, even death. Symptoms of COVID-19 may not appear for 2-14 days after exposure. It is possible to spread COVID-19 virus to others up to 48 hours prior to showing symptoms. Coronavirus are respiratory viruses that are spread through respiratory secretions (droplets from a cough or sneeze) from person to person.
Symptoms are:
Fever
Cough and Shortness of breath
In severe cases, pneumonia (fluid in lungs)
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 please do the following:
Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
Clean and disinfect things that are frequently touched
Cover your mouth with your elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze
Stay home if you are sick and avoid close contact with others
Seek medical attention if you experience any of the above symptoms or if you came in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days.
